YES, Howe Sound Iron is on!
OC-6 Events
  • Prizes will be awarded.  All OC-6 must have a registration weight of 400 pounds. To qualify for unlimited class, there must be 3 canoes registered under the 330 weight class.
  • Winning boats may be requested to ‘weigh in’ at the conclusion of your event, at the discretion of the judges within 30 minutes of race completion.

Divisions: Mens, Womens , Open to Kupuna, must have 3 registered to qualify for a prize category. The Mixed division (minimum 1 man, maximum 3 men) will run within the men's event.

Short Course – This race circumnavigates Keats Island. This is a mixed event (max 3 men) w/ Junior, Open and 50+ categories. Race time is approximately 70 minutes on a 8.7 mile/14 km course. This race runs first thing Saturday morning. Water conditions in the early morning are usually calm and the race course is a favorite for any team wishing a shorter alternative to the iron course. Junior teams who have paddled this course in prior years have registered times within our estimate, and stand very well amongst our field of competitors. However, if the Junior coaches from all participating teams wish for a modified/shorter race course, a request must be addressed to the Race director one month prior to the race day.

Long Course - Start at Amours Beach in Gibsons Wharf, East outside of the Harbour lighthouse, then North to Secret Beach, around Buoy marker, downwind South, past Preston Island, and northwest around Keats Island towards green can at Soames point. Follow coast line east back to finish line at Gibsons Wharf. (approx. 23 km).

We reserve the right to alter a course or cancel this race due to unsafe paddling/weather conditions at any point before and during the race event.

See below for Short Course -  Long Course -  Small Boat Course
