Voyager Canoe
Our voyageur canoe, called the "Dolphin Spirit", is the only canoe in our fleet that is of North American ancestry. It is of the design that our First Nations people shared with the Europeans as they first came to this country hundreds of years ago.
The Dolphin Spirit will take up to twelve paddlers and a steersperson and is kept in Sechelt on the waters of Porpoise Bay. It is available for drop-in groups most Saturday mornings, so bring a snack and join us. For more information contact outriggers@gibsonspaddleclub.ca.
The Dolphin Spirit can also be booked by Club members at any time through the canoe booking schedule by signing on to our Yahoo database. Before taking the Dolphin Spirit (formerly Langley Canoe) out members must follow The Langley Canoe Policy, Langley safety and be familiar with the Langley Canoe Manual.
Designed for journeying, it can take almost 1,000 pounds of gear and can be paddled by as few as six paddlers for such journeys. It can be transported on top of a large pickup and we anticipate it will be used on journeys around the Province.
